Headteacher Newsletter 449

Dear parents, please read on for information regarding what your child learns at Woodland View; this includes: Year Group Guide Videos, our new Termly Learning Pages, Achieve With Me days, and School Blogs.
WHAT IS MY CHILD LEARNING AT WOODLAND VIEW?
We know how important it is for parents to work in partnership with the school to get the best out of your child’s educational development. This is why we have a range of approaches to help you answer the question, ‘what is my child learning?’
We hope the recent class drop-ins were useful in giving you an opportunity to see your child’s learning environment and meet the teacher. We were overwhelmed with the turnout, and also the attendance at the following Phonics for Parents session for Foundation Stage and Year 1. Thank you!
Please read on for information on parental understanding and involvement in your child’s learning.
Year Group Guide Videos
We’re delighted to let you know that our Year Group Guide videos for Years 1–6 are now available on the school website. These short videos are designed to give you all the key information you need about your child’s year group and curriculum this year. They cover everything from our school values and behaviour expectations to core learning, homework, and the wider curriculum. We hope you find them helpful in supporting your child’s learning journey.
Please access the videos via this link

For our Foundation Stage parents, we have a special curriculum meeting on Monday 6th October at 6pm where an overview of the curriculum will be shared. This is a great opportunity to find out what your child will learn in their first year at Woodland View, and how you can support them to achieve their very best! We look forward to seeing you there.
Termly Learning Page
We recently shared with you the new Termly Learning Pages. These are really effective one-page overviews which give you an easy-to-read look at what your child is learning each term across the curriculum. These are also on the website via the link https://www.wvps.northants.sch.uk/page/?title=Termly+Learning+Sheets&pid=127&action=saved
Please use them as conversation starters when speaking with your children about their learning!
Achieve With Me Days
We are very excited to be welcoming parents into school for our Achieve With Me sessions, which take place from 9 – 9.30am. These mornings are a wonderful opportunity for you to work alongside your child in the classroom on an area of core learning. Not only do they give children a real sense of pride as they share their learning with you, but they also allow parents to see first-hand the strategies we use in school. Many families tell us how useful it is to pick up tips for supporting learning at home, while children simply love the chance to learn side-by-side with you. We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at these special sessions.
Monday 10th November - Year 1
Tuesday 11th November - Year 2 & Year 3
Wednesday 12th November - Year 4
Thursday 13th November - Foundation Stage & Year 6
Friday 14th November - Year 5
If you have more than one child at the same time, we will support you to work with both.
School Blogs
Each week our teachers post blogs on the school blog pages. Each blog shows a key learning experience or activity from the week. Over time, the blogs build a great picture of what your child learns and experiences at Woodland View!
Please check them out via the link https://www.wvps.northants.sch.uk/page/?title=Year+Group+Blogs&pid=75
New Parent School Tours
We are now offering tours for prospective parents who are looking for school places from September 2026.
