Headteacher Newsletter 447

Dear parents, I hope you are all having a great summer. We look forward to seeing all of the children on Wednesday 3rd September.
- We will continue to operate the same entry and exit system as last year which enables us to see all people who enter our site so we can better safeguard the children - therefore, all entries must be from the staff car park side (2 gate options), exiting can be via any gate (3 gate options). School hours continue as last year with gates opening at 8.40-8.55am. Classroom doors will open at 8.45am. For collection, gates open at 3.10-3.20pm. Classroom doors will open at 3.15pm.
- A parent or trusted adult must bring each child to school, however children in Years 5&6 can walk to and from school on their own or with their friends. (A Ping was sent home on July 14th to Years 5&6 parents to seek permission for this).
- Most children will be dropped-off and collected from their classrooms however children in Year 5 will need to be dropped-off from the top playground corridor door, and collected from the front of school.
Uniform and Stationary
School uniforms help all children feel included and part of the Woodland View family. We also believe in the phrase ‘look smart - think smart!’. Our Year 5 and 6 children really lead the way with this as they wear their school shirts and ties.
Children in Years 1-6 must wear PE kits to school on their PE days. Foundation Stage children must bring their PE kits into school as it is part of their curriculum to get changed for PE. We will let you know about PE days for all classes when we return to school. For more information about our school uniform, please visit https://www.wvps.northants.sch.uk/page/?title=Uniform&pid=18
Children in Key Stage 2 can bring their own pencil cases to school with essential stationery (eg, pencils, ruler, rubber, glue stick) but pencil cases must not be over-sized (i.e, should easily fit in their drawer). Nevertheless, pencil cases are not a necessity as we have all the equipment they need.
Our First School Value is…
Our School Value for Autumn 1 is Courage. This is a perfect Value to start the year as many children feel a bit nervous when they come back to school and settle into their new class. If your child feels like this before coming back to school, please tell them that this is normal, and all the staff and children will be feeling the same way! But there is nothing to worry about as we’re looking forward to getting them back to school and having a fun start to term.
We will continue to offer a wide range of clubs and tuition this year - before, during and after school. From sport and exercise, to music and languages, we will be sharing information soon about how you can sign your child up for school clubs. There will be many taster sessions happening in the first few weeks of term to give children a flavour of what they offer!
