Achieve With Me
A reminder that after half term, We are very excited to be welcoming parents into school for our Achieve With Me sessions, which take place from 9.00–9.30am. These mornings are a wonderful opportunity for you to work alongside your child in the classroom, focusing on an area of core learning. Not only do they give children a real sense of pride as they share their learning with you, but they also allow parents to see first-hand the strategies we use in school. Many families tell us how useful it is to pick up tips for supporting learning at home, while children simply love the chance to learn side-by-side with you. We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at these special sessions.
Monday 10th November - Year 1
Tuesday 11th November - Year 2 & Year 3
Wednesday 12th November - Year 4
Thursday 13th November - Foundation Stage & Year 6
Friday 14th November - Year 5
If you have more than one child at the same time, we will support you to work with both.
Parent Tours
It’s that exciting time of year when we begin welcoming families who are looking for school places for September 2026! Our parent tours are a wonderful opportunity to see our school in action - to experience the warmth of our community, meet our staff and children, and get a real feel for what makes our school such a special place to learn and grow.
Even if you already have a child with us, we’d love for you to come along for a tour when your younger child is due to start. It’s a great chance to see how the school continues to evolve, to ask any questions about the next stage of your child’s journey, and to share in our pride for all that we do together.
Please see the flyer for tour dates and QR codes to book your place. And if you know any families who are looking for a school for their child next year, please do pass the information on - we love welcoming new faces!

Poppy Appeal
We will be supporting The Poppy Appeal again this year, with poppies and poppy-themed goodies available to purchase during the first week after half term. Children can bring money into school to make a donation - we suggest a minimum of 20p for a paper poppy and 50p for all other goodies.
The Poppy Appeal is such an important cause, helping to support members of the Armed Forces community - past and present - and their families. It’s also a wonderful way for our children to learn about remembrance, respect, and gratitude for those who have served and sacrificed.
We ask that children are considerate and only purchase a couple of items so that everyone has the chance to choose something if they wish. We will send a reminder when we return after half term.
Anti-Bullying Week and Odd Socks Day
Anti-Bullying Week takes place during the week beginning Monday 10th November, and we’ll be marking it with a range of special activities and discussions in school. We’ll start the week by inviting children to wear odd socks on Monday – a fun way to celebrate what makes each of us unique and to show that it’s okay to stand out!
During the week, classes will have a special assembly to help them understand the importance of kindness, respect, and speaking up for themselves and others. It’s a great opportunity to remind everyone that bullying is never acceptable and that we all play a part in creating a safe, happy school community.
We’ll also be revisiting our STOP approach – which helps children remember that bullying means Several Times On Purpose, and that the best way to respond is to Start Telling Other People. This simple message empowers pupils to seek help and ensures that no one ever feels alone.
Friends Of Woodland View AGM - Tuesday 11th November
Our Friends of Woodland View (FOWV) will be holding their Annual General Meeting on Tuesday 11th November at 6.30pm in school, and all parents and carers are very welcome to attend.
The AGM is a great opportunity to hear about the fantastic fundraising and events that FOWV have organised over the past year, to see how the money raised has supported our children and school, and to share ideas for the year ahead. It’s also when the committee roles are reviewed and new members can get involved - whether you’d like to take on a role or simply find out more about what FOWV do, you’ll be warmly welcomed.
We’re so grateful for the time, creativity and energy our parent community gives through FOWV - it really does make a big difference! If you would like to attend, you can inform the school office or Bex Spires (Chair), or you can just turn up!
Parents’ Evening - Week Beginning 3rd November
Parents’ Evening is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate your child’s progress and share all the great things they’ve been achieving in school. It’s also a chance for us to work together, discuss next steps, and make sure every child is happy and thriving in their learning. We really value these conversations and appreciate your time and support in helping us make school the best it can be for your child. If you haven’t signed up yet, please check your Pings and choose an appointment.
Lost Property
We’ve gathered quite a collection of lost property over the term! We’ll be putting it all out at drop-off and collection time tomorrow, so please do take a look and take anything belonging to your child, or feel free to take any unnamed items.
It’s a great time to have a quick check - you might just reunite a jumper or two with its owner!
Contributions of Kindness
We’ve been so touched by the kindness and generosity shown by our parents recently. We’ve received wonderful contributions including football goals and equipment, soft play items, furniture, games, toys and books - as well as offers of time from volunteers who are keen to support in the library or help out in classrooms.
A huge thank you to everyone who has donated or volunteered - your kindness truly makes a difference to our children’s experiences and to the life of our school.
Kindness is one of our core values, and it’s inspiring to see it lived out so genuinely across our school community. Together, we really do make Woodland View a very special place!
