In Your Element: Earth!

This afternoon, we launched our new theme: In Your Element. This theme is all about the four elements (earth, water, wind and fire) and how they affect our earth through its physical features and through natural disasters. 

We started our session with a recap of some of our learning from year 4 which links to this theme (Rocky and the Findosaur) and we had to think about and remind ourselves of our knowledge of the rock cycle, testing our knowledge through a Kahoot! quiz.

We then went on to find out about symbols on an Ordnance Survey map and the role that contours play on a map. Finally, we used our atlases to zoom in on the different parts of the UK to locate mountains and other physical features.
