Mapping out our model text

This morning, we were introduced to our new model text: a diary entry from Syms, who is the main character in our class text - Darwin's Dragons. The diary entry is based on Chapter 17 which we got to know on Monday. Now we have got used to using images to help us learn and understand the text, we had a go at creating the story maps ourselves, taking a paragraph each. Mapping the story in this way, helps us to familiarise ourselves with the vocabulary choices, the sentence structure and the punctuation used.
