Have you got the rhythm?
Using our music notation knowledge (begun in our Soundstart lessons way back in Year 5!), Year 6 have been using an app to help them to notate (musically write out) the rhythms of some protest chants they have been composing. This activity links with our topic unit of 'I have a dream...' where the children have been finding out how people's (or their own) words can really make a difference to the world.
So, in our music sessions this term we are trying to compose our very own protest chants to lend our voices to the things we want to change in the world. It is a big challenge to try and understand the difference between Tempo (beat) and rhythm and the app has helped us to work some of this out. Look out for updates on how we get on with our finished protest songs/chants in the coming weeks!
