District Cricket Competition!

Today a team of Year 6 children represented the school at a district cricket competition. The tournament was very large and consisted of 18 schools! Due to the high number of participating schools, the competition was split into two smaller competitions.

The team started off the competition by playing two pool games. The team performed magnificently in the first game, taking 5 wickets and batting brilliantly. They ended up winning a very close game by 1 run! In the second fixture, the team found their stride and built a commanding lead with the bat, winning again by 28 runs! This meant that the team finished top of the group and advanced to the 1st to 3rd pool to play for a chance to represent the school at the county games.

Unfortunately, the team didn't win the next two games but managed to finish joint 3rd overall in the whole competition! This is a wonderful achievement and we are so proud of the determination, sportsmanship and cooperation that each of the children showed, even in defeat. We know that they have been excited about this tournament and they represented the school brilliantly throughout the day! Mr Willars is incredibly pleased with how the team performed today!
