Group 3 - All Day! - Zipwire, abseiling and Assault Course (Morning) : Trek Course and High Ropes (Afternoon)
The fog was heavy this morning as we ventured out for our morning activities. Quickly, the children donned their harnesses and prepared for our first activity - abseiling. Again, the children showed a lot of nerve and courage as they took their turn to either step out on to the ledge of the tower and trust in the ropes or continue and descend the side of the tower. Even Mrs Taylor joined in with this activity and challenged herself to overcome her fears.
Next, each of the children took a turn on the zip-wire. This was an activity they all really enjoyed, with all the children throwing themselves (safely) from the tower attached to their safety lines.
Before lunch, we took on a series of challenges on the assault course, where the children raced over different obstacles in teams. In addition, the children had to work closely together in their teams to overcome problems and yet more equipment!
After a hot jacket potato for lunch, we headed back out to two different high activities. First came the Trek Course, an obstacle course high in the air. This gave the children more opportunities to push themselves to trust in the equipment and offer super support to their peers.
The final activity of this afternoon was the high rope course and 'leap of faith'. This was Mr Johnson and Mrs Taylor's favourite activity by far as all of the children pushed themselves to go one step (and in some cases - a lot more steps) beyond their comfort zone! It was truly incredible to see the children try to stretch the limits of what they thought they were capable. Ask them about the events of the high-rope course and 'leap of faith' when they get home. There are certainly some tales of bravery and limit-pushing to tell!
