Testing Bridges
Year 2 has been testing different materials to see how suitable they are for making bridges.
Year 2 is learning all about everyday materials and their properties. Today we tested a range of materials (wood, tinfoil, tissue paper, card and plastic) to see how suitable they were for making a simple bridge. The children used what they already knew about the materials to correctly predict what the outcome might be. They knew that the wood would make a strong and sturdy bridge and guessed that the tissue paper would rip. The children really enjoyed this experiment and were excited to see how much weight each bridge could hold before breaking.
