Exploring and Remembering in the Immersive Room

This week, Year 1 have had two exciting visits to the immersive room!

Our first visit was a special and thoughtful one, as we came together to pay our respects for Remembrance Day. Surrounded by peaceful images and gentle music, the children reflected quietly and learnt about why we wear poppies and remember those who have helped to keep us safe.

Later in the week, we took a trip to a very different place – the Arctic! Through the sights and sounds of the immersive room, we explored this icy part of the world. The children discovered where the Arctic is on a map, what the weather is like and what kinds of animals live on the land, in the water and in the sky. We also learnt about the people who make their homes there and how they adapt to such a cold environment.

This experience helped to bring our geography learning to life and will inspire the children’s writing, as they describe what they saw and learnt during their Arctic adventure.

It’s been a wonderful week of learning through exploration and reflection!
