TinkerCAD and 3d Printing
We are very excited in Year 6 to start to develop some new computing skills. Therefore, we have been learning how to create objects using 3d modelling techniques using a program called TinkerCAD. Linked to this, we have also been finding out how these designs can be converted into files to be printed on our 3d printer.
The first challenge was to work through the tutorial programs to help us understand the basics of 3d modelling and how to manipulate objects in a 3d environment. Mr Johnson showed us some examples of 3d printed objects and demonstrated how the 3d printer worked by printing in layers.
Our main challenge now is to design some eco-friendly cars or homes using TinkerCAD (and that we can potentially print), linked to our curriculum driver of Conservation and our theme of Global Warning. Look out for an update on our designs soon...
