Playgrounds!
Our DT topic is all focused around playgrounds and the structures that stand within them.
Yesterday, we learnt about three different types of structures: frame, arch and shell. We then went out to look at these both on our own adventure trail and at the local park. We took photographs of the structures that we saw and analysed which structure they were demonstrating. When we returned to the classroom, we uploaded our images to Padlet so that we had a shared collection of images. Using this inspiration, we created our own design criteria in readiness for Friday morning.
This morning, we have begun to look at designing our own playgrounds, using the following criteria:
- It must be strong, secure and safe.
- It must be engaging and interactive.
- It must have something that moves.
- It must have somewhere to hide or go through.
- It must have something to climb.
- It must have space to move between the apparatus.
Some of us have decided on themes to bring our playgrounds to life; we cannot wait to actually build them!
