Exploring a Local Habitat
This term in science, we have been learning all about different habitats and the animals and plants that live in them. This week, we focused on a local habitat, the pond.
We started by learning about the types of creatures and plants that might live in or near a pond. We talked about frogs, dragonflies, water snails, and pondweed, and how each one is suited to living in or around the water.
Then we went down to the pond to explore it for ourselves. We were very excited to observe the habitat up close! We looked carefully to see if we could spot any of the animals or plants we had talked about in class. Some of us were lucky enough to see newts swimming near the edge, and we even spotted a few water insects skimming across the surface.
