RE
Today, we learnt about refugees and asylum seekers and some of the many challenges that they have to face. We played a board game in RE, where we were refugees trying to escape from a war zone and reach our ‘safe place’. The game had lots of chance cards and helped us understand the situations a refugee may encounter and the choices they have to make, but also highlighted the work that charities, such as Christian Aid and Islamic Relief, do to help refugees. At the end of the lesson, we talked about how we felt and our emotions through the ‘journey’.
We felt: annoyed - lack of control; grateful/happy - when you got help; upset - because we lost things; devastated - thinking about other people’s experiences; frustrated/nervous - anticipation about what will happen next; angry/scared - everything is chance!
