Rusting!

Over the last two weeks, Year 6 have been engaging in an experiment relating to metal rusting. After exploring reversible and irreversible changes, the children were put into groups and asked to plan, conduct and analyse a fair test investigation relating to the rusting of metal.

Most groups placed iron nails in different solutions and studied how long (and to what extent) the nails rusted in the different solutions. Thinking carefully about the variables, the children worked in their groups to compare and present their results.

As you can see from the pictures below, they had great fun planning and executing their experiments! The results were fascinating and it was a great, practical way for us to explore our science investigating further!
