Programming Turtles

In IT lessons this half term, we are using an educational platform that teaches the basics of computer programming using the Logo programming language.

Last week, we were learning the basic instructions needed to make the turtle move around the screen. We used abbreviations such as fd for forward and rt for right. We then had to identify how far forward or how far right we wanted the turtle to move.

This week, we have been using these skills to program our turtles to create a given outcome – a letter from our name. How did we do?

Next week, we will be taking our learning a step further by creating a series of instructions, known as an algorithm, rather than inputting individual instructions one at a time.
