Bulbs

This week in Science, we have been learning all about bulbs and how they grow.

We learnt about the different parts of a bulb, including its layers, roots and growth shoot, and discovered how each part helps the plant to grow. We also learnt that the bulb acts as a food store, giving the plant what it needs to get started.

The children were fascinated to discover that our bulb had produced new baby bulbs, called bulblets. They loved spotting the tiny new bulbs and thinking about how they could grow into new plants.

We finished by creating our own observational drawings, carefully showing and labelling the different parts of the bulb.
