Stanwick Lakes

This was an incredible trip for Year Years 3's learning about the Ages in our local area. The children got to start with watching volunteers making a Roman kiln, a wooden canoe and weaving wool. We then went on a beautiful walk around one of the lakes and explored a Stone Age barrow and Iron Age houses! On the walk, the children learnt about the different birds and ducks around the area and explored the wet woodland. We also stood on the Kimgfisher Bridge looking for massive trout in the shallows. The children also got to play in the massive play area and were brilliantly behaved with the local community. In the afternoon, we went on a guided activity where they got to experience what life would have been like in the Stone Age from building shelters, practising being a hunter, drawing Stone Age pictures with sticks and finally making a fire from flint! It was an incredible day and the weather remained dry.
