Semaphore

For our theme this half-term (And the band played on...), we have been studying the Titanic and its fateful journey across the Atlantic Ocean in 1912. This week, we were focussing on the communication systems that were in place on the Titanic and how communication systems have progressed and become more technologically advanced in the last 110 years.

As part of the lesson, we were tasked with being able to recall their names and to send coded messages using the semaphore alphabet system. We discussed and explored the positives and negatives of this system and the impact it could have if used on the Titanic.
