Decimals on a Number Line
Today in Maths, we were positioning numbers with one decimal place on a number line. We worked in pairs. The first person rolled a die to create a number with one decimal place and wrote it on a marker on the blank number line. The second person then had to complete the number line, counting up and down in tenths. The children were amazing at this and were able to challenge each other by placing the number at different positions on the number line and suggesting that the number line went up in intervals that were greater than one tenth too. Some children were even able to relate this to our previous learning on improper fractions and mixed number fractions.
