Comparing area

This week in maths, we have been focussing on calculating the area of 2D shapes. Today, we went into the hall and were each given a piece of paper with a 2D shape on it. We played several games where we had to get into groups of 3, 4 and 6 and order the area of the shapes from largest to smallest in silence, finding other ways to communicate! We then successfully completed this task as a whole class! I think our favourite game was the 'area snowball fight' where we scrunched up our papers, threw them to someone else, found a partner and compared the two using the 'greater than' and 'less than' symbols!
