More Egg-citing Science!
On Monday in Science, we set up an exciting experiment to investigate the effects that different drinks can have on our teeth.
We learnt that our teeth are covered in a substance called enamel, which protects the pulp and dentine inside our teeth. We also discovered that enamel is the hardest substance in the human body!
We set up an experiment to find out what effect different drinks might have on enamel. As eggshells are made from a similar mineral substance to enamel, we placed three eggs into three different liquids: water, Coke and pure orange juice. The type of liquid was the variable we changed. Everything else had to remain the same, which meant we had to measure the liquids carefully to make sure our experiment was a fair test.
We are going to leave the eggs in their liquids for a week and then observe the eggshells carefully to see what changes have occurred. We will use our observations to help us understand the possible effects that different drinks can have on our teeth.
It is going to be egg-tremely egg-citing to see what happens!
