All About the Animals!

Today we had some very special visitors. Firstly, we held a tortoise. He was from the rainforest and was, unusually, an omnivore, not a herbivore as tortoises usually are. His name was Simba.

We also met a tarantula called Charlotte who was 14 years old. She was hairy and in the wild she would have thrown her hairs to stop predators eating her. 

Rainbow the chameleon seemed to like us. He climbed up our arms and wrapped his tail around our arms. He is normally red and this shows that he is happy. He only camouflages himself when he is scared. 

Nacho looked like a hedgehog, but he was more related to an elephant than a hedgehog! He was actually a tenrec. He couldn't roll himself into a ball like a hedgehog and had quills instead of spikes. He was very energetic! We had great fun getting to know the animals and finding out all about them. We hope it has inspired the children for our new conservation topic.
