English- Emotions in a Story.
Today in English we talked about the emotions of the lighthouse keeper in the film ‘The Lighthouse Keeper’. First, we played a charades game where we had to guess the emotions of another person. We then watched the film again and recorded on our whiteboards the emotions we thought the lighthouse keeper was feeling. We talked about how authors don’t always say ‘he is sad’ and how emotions are conveyed to the reader, often through actions. After this, we then plotted his emotions on a line graph to try to identify when his positive and negative emotions were throughout the story. Finally, we worked in pairs to identify the different emotions being felt by the lighthouse keeper in the text version of the story. Was he feeling anxious, relief or fear and what in the text suggested this.
