Swimming in our Pyjamas!
Today was our last swimming lesson. We have had great fun travelling on the bus and improving our swimming over the last few weeks. Today's lesson was a water safety lesson. Firstly, we talked about the different flags you might see at the beach and when it is safe to go into the water. We weren't able to wear our goggles and had to wear our pyjamas to teach us what it would be like if we fell into a river or reservoir when out walking. It made us realise how difficult it is to swim wearing clothes. We learnt how to safely enter the water if we couldn't see to the bottom and how to jump in safely. We also talked about whether it was a good idea to put our heads in the water and practised shouting for help.
If you wish to build on the confidence and skill base your child has gained, there is an intensive course at the pool over February half term (costs apply) or contact Northampton Swimming Club who use the same pool.
