An introduction to algebra!

This morning, we began to think about algebra - at first we thought this might be scary, but then we soon realised that we have been calculating missing numbers for years and this was no different! We are now quite excited to really get to grips with algebra!

We learnt how to write both one-step and two-step expressions, before moving on to how to solve one step equations. To test our new found skills, we worked on some emoji puzzles and were amazed to discover that this used algebraic thinking too!

It was great to see the children really working together and discussing their methods - great use of this term's value: cooperation!
