Going for goals!
This afternoon, we had a fabulous session with Pamela from the Life Education team. As part of this session, we thought about our goals - what did we want to be when we were 5?
What is our goal now? We discussed how our goals and dreams might change and that some of us may go straight to our goal, others might take a different route and that is ok. The key is that we are happy with whatever we achieve.
What doors are going to open for us as we go to secondary school? What will it offer? What are the opportunities? We thought about what we might be looking forward to and what we might be a little nervous about.
We talked about the core values we have (safety, caring, achievement, resilience, friendship) and how resilience is how we bounce back.
We played the 1-2-3 game, changing it with actions - making it increasingly trickier. This taught us that when we make mistakes, it is ok…we just have to move on!
We thought about what could affect our wellbeing, both positively and negatively. We used different colour jenga bricks to illustrate this.
Orange - meaningful participation
Red - having connections with family, friends, community
Yellow - being active and healthy
Blue - self-esteem, feeling a sense of pride or acceptance
Green - self-regulation
We need to keep our mental health as sturdy as possible. Sometimes we are taking things away, but we need to add more things than we take away. If your tower is wobbling, speak to someone!
We added positive affirmations to our ‘goals’ booklet. These will be great to look back on in years to come to see how our goals change and whether we achieve them!
