Parental Engagement for the year ahead

We know that children learn best when school and home work closely together. That’s why we love welcoming parents into school for sessions like Achieve with Me and Open View. These are special times where you can sit alongside your child, share in their learning, and see first-hand the progress they’re making. Children feel so proud when they can show you what they’ve achieved, and it’s a wonderful way to celebrate their hard work while giving you ideas to support them at home too.

See the table for the many ways in which we plan to involve and inform you of your child’s learning and progress this year. You may wish to update your family calendars!

As always, teachers will be blogging each week to show you a range of learning experiences across all subjects, and our school Facebook Page will be regularly updated.

 

As always, we aim to offer a wide range of extra-curricular clubs and activities. Many of our staff run clubs before school, at lunchtimes and after school (free of charge). I am thankful to any member of staff who gives up their time to provide wonderful opportunities for the children. 
Some of the clubs led by staff include: Strictly Dancing (Y2-6), Drama (Y6), Choir (Y2-6), Netball (Y6), Football (Y5&6).
Children will be informed of lunch clubs when they begin, and parents will be informed of before or after school clubs.

Our plan for clubs led by external providers is outlined below. Some have already started, others will be starting soon. Communication for all of these comes separately. Termly Learning Sheets

Our Termly Learning Sheets were shared with families last week, giving you a handy snapshot of the exciting learning your child will be getting stuck into across the curriculum this term. They are a great way to see what lies ahead for the term and provide some useful talking points at home too!

Parking

You may remember our communication last year about the work we are doing with the Parish Council and Highways Team to explore ways we can make the area in front of school safer at our busy drop-off and collection times. We are hoping to see some positive changes this year and will keep you updated as this work progresses.

In the meantime, please continue to make safety your priority. With lots of cars and families arriving and leaving at the same time, please drive slowly and park considerately. This includes making sure that residents' driveways are not blocked.

Please remember that Respect is our core value, and this is a great opportunity for us to model this to our children and our wider community.

Where possible, our preferred approach is to walk to school. If you need to drive, please consider parking a little further away and walking the final few minutes. A small change can make a big difference to congestion and safety around school.

New Parent Tours

Do you have a child who will be starting school in September 2027? Or perhaps you know a family who does? We would love to welcome them to Woodland View! We have a number of opportunities for prospective families to come and explore our school, meet the team and get a feel for what makes Woodland View such a special place to learn.

And there is plenty for our youngest visitors to enjoy too! Children will have the opportunity to stay and play in our Foundation Stage environment and even experience an immersive Gruffalo story!

SEND Coffee Morning - Tuesday 9am

Throughout the year, we will be holding SEND Coffee Mornings - a friendly and informal opportunity for parents and carers to come along, have a cuppa and chat with our SEND team. Whether your child already has an identified Special Educational Need or Disability, you are wondering if they may need some additional support, or you simply have a question or concern, you are very welcome to join us. The first one is on Tuesday at 9am. 

Holiday Camps

We are delighted to be continuing our partnerships with Craft Barn and Freestyle for another year of fantastic holiday camps!

Whether your child loves getting creative, making things to take home, trying different sports or dancing their way through the holidays, there will be plenty to get involved with.

Craft Barn offers creative sessions where children can explore their artistic and craft skills and make some lovely keepsakes, while Freestyle provides a fun-filled mix of sporting and dance activities to keep children active, happy and entertained.

We will send reminder pings and sign-up information closer to each camp, but for now, you can get these dates in the diary for half-term camps coming up:
