School Sports Challenge – Spring

This week, the children at Woodland View have been taking part in our termly school sports challenge! This term's challenge was based around our current value - cooperation!

From Foundation Stage to Year 6, nearly 300 children took part in the challenge throughout the week! Depending on which year group your child is in, the challenge was slightly different. For children in Foundation Stage and KS1, they had to work together to run as fast as they could from one side of the pitch to the other, passing the ball carefully at the change over each time. In KS2, children were tasked with throwing and catching the ball - in a pair, showing coordination and cooperation - between each other a given number of times without dropping it.

As you can see from the pictures above, many children at WVPS love sport and have engaged brilliantly with the challenge this week! It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces and great sportsmanship and cooperation on display.

A special thank-you goes to our sports leaders who helped with timing, recording scores and demonstrating the activities to all the children. They did an amazing job – demonstrating cooperation effectively too!

Please see below some photos of our winners (with their medal prizes) and I look forward to seeing everyone again for the next sports challenge in the summer term! Who will be our next school sports challenge champions?
