Headteacher Newsletter 460

Dear parents, please read on for information about our new school value, our recent Values Awards Assembly, celebrating Eid, Family Bingo, School Book Fair, GXO water bottles, exciting events coming up and Friends of Woodland View.
Our New Value - Creativity
A very warm welcome back to everyone after the Easter break. I hope you all enjoyed a happy and restful holiday with your
families.
This term, we are excited to introduce our new school value: Creativity. Creativity is a vital skill for our children - it encourages curiosity, problem-solving, self-expression and confidence. Across the school, creativity will be woven into lessons and learning experiences, helping children to think differently, explore ideas and develop their own unique talents.
Values Awards - Honesty

Last term our value focus was Honesty. To see how we celebrated this at the end of term, please see some action from our Awards Assembly via the link.

Celebrating Eid
During the week of Eid al-Fitr, Miss Drake, with the support of our Diversity Ambassadors, organised a whole-school quiz all about Islam, Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr. In addition to the quiz, the Diversity Ambassadors helped run creative art activities inspired by Islam and Eid, giving children a chance to explore and celebrate these important cultural traditions. This learning experience was part of our four-year plan to celebrate different faiths and ensure that all children feel seen, represented and valued in our school community.

Family Bingo Game - next Friday!
We are delighted to share that the next Friends of Woodland View event will be a Family Bingo Evening on Friday 24th April 6-7.15pm.

Tickets are £4 per person, and the event promises to be great fun for all the family, with exciting prizes and refreshments available.
We are also very lucky to have some special guest bingo callers! Mr Horsley and Mrs Matsangou will be visiting classes over the coming days to play a short game of bingo with children in Years 2-6 and help build excitement for the event.
Please note that spaces are limited to 90 attendees, so we encourage you to sign up as soon as possible using the link below to avoid missing out.

School Book Fair
We are pleased to let you know that we will be hosting a School Book Fair on Tuesday 28th and Wednesday 29th April at 8.30am and 3.15pm on both days in our hall. There will be a fantastic offer available of 3 for 2 on all books, making it a great opportunity to encourage a love of reading at home.

Please note that this will be a cashless event. Payments can be made via a QR code, which will be available throughout the hall, so we kindly ask that you bring a bank card with you to support purchases.
Year 5 and Year 6 pupils will have the opportunity to view the books in advance and will be able to note down any titles they are interested in, should you wish to purchase them.
We look forward to welcoming you and hope you enjoy browsing the selection of books.
Community Partnership – GXO
We are pleased to be working with GXO Logistics, a local company based in Grange Park, who have kindly offered their support to Woodland View.
Over the coming terms, GXO will be providing volunteer teams to help with a range of projects around the school - an exciting opportunity to further enhance our environment for the children.
In addition, they have generously gifted reusable water bottles for our pupils. The children will soon be bringing these home, supporting both healthy habits and our commitment to sustainability.
Exciting Events Coming up - Soiree, Sports Day, Summer Fair
We have a number of exciting events to look forward to next term. Two of our biggest events are the Performing Arts Soiree and Sports Days:
Performing Arts Soirée – Thursday 18th June
We are thrilled to be hosting a special Performing Arts Soirée at 7.00pm, featuring children from Years 2-6. The event will take place at Spinney Theatre.
If your child is involved in one of our performing arts groups (such as choirs, dance or drama), they are likely to be invited to take part. You may already start to hear some excitement at home! Further details will be shared soon.

Sports Days
We are also looking forward to our annual Sports Days, which will take place as follows:
Tuesday 23rd June:
Foundation Stage: 9.00–10.15am
Years 1–2: 10.15am–12.15pm
Thursday 25th June
Years 5–6: 9.00–11.30am
Years 3–4: 12.50–3.10pm
Sports Day is always a highlight of the school year. It is a wonderful opportunity for children to be active, challenged and inspired, while also celebrating teamwork, resilience and school spirit. We are proud to offer an inclusive approach, where every child can take part, enjoy success and experience the excitement of friendly competition.
Friends of Woodland View - We Need Your Help
In my previous newsletter, I shared an important update about Friends of Woodland View (PTA) as we are currently struggling to find enough volunteers to support our events.
The money raised through Friends of Woodland View goes directly back into school, providing valuable resources, facilities and experiences that enhance your children’s education. For example, coming soon Year 3 & 4 will have a special visit from an animal handler, Year 5 will have ducklings to look after and Year 6 have a Titanic experience.
We completely understand that many parents work or have other commitments, and that for some, language may feel like a barrier - but please be reassured: everyone is welcome. Our team is friendly and supportive, and school staff are always there to help at events too.
Even a small amount of time can make a big difference.
If you think you could help in any way at all, please do get in touch:

or call school 01604 765037
Thank you for your support.
