County Football

This afternoon, a team of Y6 children represented the school and the district at the County Football Finals in Wellingborough. As you may remember, the squad qualified for the county finals with a fantastic 2nd place finish at the district finals in November, where they finished 2nd overall.

See https://www.wvps.northants.sch.uk/news/?pid=11&nid=2&storyid=106 for more information.

The team got off to an amazing start with a wonderful 2-0 victory in their first game! They followed this up with a competitive 0-0 stalemate. After that, the team fought hard in their next two matches, unfortunately falling to defeat in both fixtures. This meant that the team finished with a win, a draw and two losses, helping them to finish 3rd in the group!

In the 5th/6th play-off, the team showed great determination and fight; however, they came up just short against Wootton (1-0) in their final game to finish 6th overall. This is an amazing achievement and the squad finished 6th out of the nearly 100 schools who have competed in the event across the county this academic year!

Mr Willars and Mr Havard were incredibly proud of the skill, teamwork, cooperation (our current value), respect and courage that they have shown today and in the previous competition. It has been a pleasure for both to take the boys to each competition and see them enjoying and achieving fantastically whilst representing the school.

Keep your eyes peeled for more wonderful sporting achievements this year!
