Haiku

This week in English we have been looking at different types of poetry. We have discussed that not all poetry is the same and some have their own unique style like a Haiku poem. A Haiku poem is only 3 lines with a pattern of 5 syllables on line 1, 7 syllables on line 2 and 5 syllables on line 3. To help inspire the children we all went into the pond area to find things we could write a Haiku about and then the children wrote their own Haikus. Today we then looked at animal Haikus and the children had a go at writing their own one based on their favourite animal.
