County Basketball Finals!

This afternoon, a group of Year 6 children represented the school at the Year 5/6 County Basketball Finals at Moulton College. Earlier in the year, the children qualified for the finals after a convincing set of results at the district competition.

Today’s competition was going to be tough as the counties best teams competed. The team suffered an early setback in our first game with a narrow loss to a very good team. After this warm-up game, the team pulled together brilliantly to follow this up with two commanding victories. But victory can sometimes come at a price as we then suffered an injury that meant we would only play with 3 instead of 4 in our final group game. It was great to see the team pull together and support each other throughout this match but, unfortunately, the team came up just short. This meant that with 2 wins and 2 losses the team finished 3rd in the group and didn’t advance to the semi-finals.

As always, we are extremely lucky to have supportive, determined, respectful and sporting athletes at Woodland View and it was a privilege to take this team to the county finals today!
