Commas for clarity!

Year 5 Blog ArchivedComments Off on Commas for clarity!

Today in English, we were focusing on commas for clarity. We compared sentences where adding or removing a comma changed the meaning of the sentence completely.

Some of our favourite examples from today are:

Let’s eat Grandma! vs. Let’s eat, Grandma!

Eat Daniel! vs. Eat, Daniel!

Most of the time travellers take the bus. vs. Most of the time, travellers take the bus.

We represented our understanding of each sentence by drawing pictures. What a fun lesson!
