Regional Football Finals!

This afternoon, the Year 6 football team travelled to Birmingham to represent the school, and all Northamptonshire schools, in the midlands regional football tournament. You may remember that the team won the county championships in January and they have waited patiently for this next competition.

In their toughest challenge to date, the team would play against the best schools from the Midlands, Staffordshire, Warwickshire and other surrounding counties. In the group stages, the team started off with a 0-0 draw before losing 2-1. After this, there came another 0-0 draw before a 1-0 win which could easily have been 5 or 6. After playing all these group games, the team finished 3rd in the group narrowly missing out on progressing to the semi-finals and one victory away from representing the school, county and region at the national finals in May!

From starting out this journey on a mild September evening at Woodland View to ending the tournament on a mild March afternoon in Birmingham, the team has shown great determination and teamwork to progress this far. This is an incredible achievement for the each of the players and they should be proud of the progress they have made this year! Congratulations to the team and we wish them every success in their future footballing endeavours.
