Yesterday we explored how the planets within our solar system move. We started the lesson by looking at how the Moon moves around the Earth and how long this takes. We talked about what an axis is and why there is a dark side of the Moon. After we discussed this, we used what we had learned to discuss how the Earth orbits the Sun. We talked about the impact the Earth’s axis has on whether we have day and night, as well as how the Earth’s orbit can affect the seasons.

Once we had discussed this, we worked in groups to explain the movement of the Earth relative to the Sun in the solar system. We also explained the movement of the Moon relative to the Earth.
