Last Saturday the Year 5/6 Strictly Dance Team competed at the Derngate Theatre against 26 other schools from Northamptonshire. The competition was split into two halves; 14 teams competing in the morning and 12 teams competing in the afternoon, with the winning team joining the afternoons winner for a dance off!
The children met at 12pm with great excitement and a few nerves but all looking forward to dancing and showing how hard they had worked over the past 5 weeks to get ready for the show. We were number 11 to perform so we had a long wait but the moment came and we got to go on stage! The children were absolutely amazing. They performed the tango first and then the jive and the crowd went wild! After everyone had performed their was an interval whilst the scores were totalled up and each team chose 2 dancers and a teacher to go back up on stage to hear the results. The children were over the moon to hear that they had come first in our heat and we had another chance to dance against Caroline Chisholm School. Again, they danced beautifully and won the final! Myself and Mrs Williams-Morris couldn’t have been more proud of them, how they danced and their respectfulness to all the other teams. It was truly a sensational day.
