As part of our ‘Wars of the world’ topic, Year 6 have been learning about the different styles of music that were popular during WW2 and considering why music was so important to people during that time. We have been comparing the tempo, dynamics, style and instrumentation of the music of Dame Vera Lynn and Glenn Miller. Building on the work we did on reading standard musical notation in Soundstart in Year 5, we have been naming the pitches and note values in ‘White Cliffs of Dover’ and then performing this on the Glockenspiels.
