Wedding week

Reception BlogComments Off on Wedding week

This week the children have been learning about weddings. They have looked at and discussed the features of weddings from different cultures and have helped to organise a wedding for Mr and Mrs Williams to renew their vows today.

In Literacy the children have been writing cards to the bride and groom and in Maths they have been using bar models to help solve problems relating to the wedding.

Challenges this week have included practising their adding, designing the wedding cake, writing invitations to the wedding, practising to write their sounds and playing a wedding I-spy game.

Alongside this, the children have been designing wedding outfits for the bride and groom, discussing which material would be best for a veil and making one for the big day, reacting weddings using the small world figures, making a bouquet and button hole and much, much more.
