Football Final!

2+

After school today, the Year 4 football team experienced their biggest match as a team: the Northampton Town School Sports Federation Final! The team have previously finished top of their group and won in two close, hard fought knockout matches. Today was the team’s last game of the year and a chance for them to go out as the champions!

Their opponents today… Millway! The game started excellently for the team as they quickly took a one goal lead after a great finish. Not long after, the advantage was doubled and the team were 2-0 up within the first 10 minutes of the game! After a dream start, and some goalkeeping heroics from our goalkeeper, the team went into the half with the lead and a comfortable foothold in the game. In the second half, the boys remained controlled and composed keeping the opposition at bay, defending well and creating some great opportunities to further strengthen their lead. Although the team worked hard to score again and secure the win, it wasn’t to be as the final whistle blew! YEAR 3 AND 4 NTSSF CHAMPIONS!

The team were awarded gold medals and a trophy to celebrate their amazing achievement and success over the past few months.

Each player has played an integral part in the success of this team. I am very proud of them all for how they have behaved and how they have represented the school. They all have an incredibly bright sporting future at Woodland View. Throughout this competition, they have shown amazing teamwork, resilience and respect. They are the definition of a team. They have gone above and beyond to help and support one another and I couldn’t have asked for more. I would also like to thank the parents for their support and enthusiasm throughout this competition too. You have been with us every step of the way and we couldn’t have done it without you.

Woodland View 2, Millway 0

I wish all the members of the team the very best of luck for the future and look forward to seeing them achieve and succeed in football in the future.
