A week of Diwali

Reception Blog ArchivedComments Off on A week of Diwali

This week the children have been learning all about the celebration of Diwali. They have looked at how people in India celebrate and listened to the story of Rama and Sita.

In Literacy they have been drawing and labelling their own King, like King Ravana in the story and in maths we have been naming and describing the properties of 2d shapes and making repeating patterns with them.

Challenges this week have included practising writing their sounds, subtracting, Diwali patterns and creating Rangoli patterns using powder paint.

We ended the week with our very own Diwali celebration where we lit candles in the Diva lamps the children made, sang a Diwali song, listened to and dance to Indian music.

Please contact the office if you require a paper copy of any of these documents.
