Down... Set... Hut!
In PE this week, Year 6 had the chance to try out a brand-new sport - NFL Flag! This is a non-contact variation of American football and is a new sport that we have introduced into the PE curriculum this year. A few weeks ago, the children were asked to complete a homework task relating to finding out about the sport so that we were prepared to start exploring it further.
We started our topic this week by snapping the ball to start a play. We discussed why this was important and the different skills that are involved in being able to successfully get the ball from the centre to the quarterback. After doing this, we had a go at snapping the ball and fed back to our partners about how they could improve their technique each time. The progress that was made in the lesson was amazing and it is clear to see that we are excited about doing more NFL Flag in the future!
It was great to see everyone enjoying participating in this new sport and getting to grips with one of the fastest growing sports in the UK. Who knows, we may have some future Team GB stars in the making ready for the 2032 Olympic Games!
