Group 4 - Day 2 (afternoon) - archery and climbing
After lunch, we channelled our inner Robin Hood and put our hand to archery! After a brief demonstration, we started by using our new skills to hit the archery targets at the end of the room; we weren’t quite at the stage of shooting apples off people’s heads just yet, but some of us aren’t far away! This was lots of fun and a nice change of pace from scaling heights. During our session, we played a fun game: zombies! This involved the children starting with 3 lives each and then aiming to score points and take lives off the other players! This was great fun and full of tension throughout. As you can see from the photos, we had a few bullseyes!!
For our last Pioneer-led session of the day, we spent some time on the climbing wall. Similar to yesterday, this was another enjoyable activity that saw the children pushing themselves out of their comfort zones and pushing them to their limits. The wonderful thing about climbing was the encouragement that all the children gave to each other; it was also a chance for the children to help our instructors by feeding the rope as people scaled the walls of the tower! Time after time, our children have shown RESPECT to our instructors throughout their time with us.
Tomorrow morning we will be going underground where we will be caving… we really wish that we could stay another day!
