NFL County Competition

Today a team of Year 6 children represented the school at the Northamptonshire NFL County Competition. This is a relatively new event and it is the first time that the school has participated. This sport has also been integrated into our PE curriculum this year and it was a great chance for us to show our learning in a competitive environment.

The competition saw Woodland View face off against four other schools in 20-minute matches. The team got off to a great start, winning their first game 12-6. They showed great resiliency to come back from 6-0 down early to be strong on defence and confident on offence. In the next two games, the team won both handily, scoring six touchdowns in each game (including some interceptions returned for touchdowns)! Due to the weather (as you can see from the pictures below), the rest of the days games were either forfeited or called off due to the conditions. This meant that the team finished 1st overall and will go on to the next round in a few weeks' time! This is a wonderful achievement as many of the team had never played or participated in the sport before!

We are incredibly proud of the team as they showed amazing sportsmanship, understanding of the sport and its rules and put all their hard work and extra training over the last few weeks into practise. The team will now go on to the regional competition on June 12th in Leicester where they will compete for a place at the national championships! We wish them luck at the next stage!
